Day 1: Ende/Maumere – Moni Village
You will be picked up at a hotel or airport in either Ende or Maumere in the eastern side of the island. The first destination is Moni Village. Located by the Kelimutu Volcano, you can enjoy fresh cool air and see a waterfall nearby. You can find all kinds of accommodation at Moni Village from backpacker’s lodge to a high-end hotel. Pick the suitable one and rest well because you need to get up early the next day!
Day 2: Ende – Bajawa
At 4.00 AM you will be driven to the Kelimutu Volcano. You’ll need to walk for about 45 minutes to its summit, where Kelimutu Lake is located. This three-colored lake is the only one of its kind in the world, so you wouldn’t want to miss this experience. Then, return to the hotel for breakfast to prepare for this busy day.
Firstly, you’ll go to the Ndua Ria market to see women in traditional colorful Flores garbs selling the finest local products. The next stop is PanggaJawa Beach. Rather than white sands, this beach is famous for its unique blue stones. Then, if you love history and culture, you’ll enjoy the Wogo Village, where the traditional way of life is still preserved by the villagers.
The day’s activities end with a drive to Bajawa town. Spend the night at your preferred hotel and get ready for Day 3.
Day 3: Bajawa – Ruteng
On the morning of your third day with the Flores Island Overland Tour 5 Days you’ll see the oldest village in Flores, the Bena Village. This exotic village has not changed since the Megalithic era. The next attraction is the Aimere village. Take a sip or two of the Moke, a local alcoholic drink made of palm juice. Maybe you’ll even want to bring some back.
You’ll see Rana Mese Lake next. This natural beauty has naturally green water, and you’ll also see wild animals in their habitat around the lake. Not many tourists know about this place yet so you can spend some quiet time for peace of mind.
Finally, you’ll stop in Ruteng and check in at the hotel of your choice. In the afternoon, stop by the local market for souvenirs to bring back home.
Day 4: Ruteng – WaeRebo
Wake up early in the morning for a drive to Cancar Village, home to Lodok, or rice fields arranged in a giant spider web pattern. It’s a unique phenomenon only found in Cancar, so make sure you take pictures.
Then, you’ll head to the Denge Village in the south coast of the region, stopping by several landmarks on the way. From Denge, you’ll have to trek for 2-3 hours to Wae Rebo. At 1,200 m above sea level, it’s literally a village above the clouds. You’ll be staying the night in a guest house.
Day 5: Wae Rebo – Labuan Bajo
Immerse yourself in the culture of the Wae Rebo people in the morning before you return to Denge Village. A car will pick you up and drive you to Labuan Bajo, the tropical paradise of Flores. Check into your preferred hotel and that’s the end of your Flores Island Overland Tour 5 Days.
